Police discover 200 kg drugs in west Afghanistan

ZARANJ, Afghanistan, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) — Afghanistan’s counter-narcotics police have discovered 200 kg of illicit drugs in the western Nimroz province, a police official said on Sunday.
The contraband including 200 kg of meth was discovered during operations conducted on the outskirts of the province’s Delaram District, said Mawlawi Samiullah Samim, manager of counter-narcotic of the district.
A person was arrested in connection with the case and his dossier was referred to the judiciary for further investigation and possible legal process, Samim added.
Additionally, nine individuals were arrested on charges related to drug trafficking, sales and purchases in various parts of the national capital Kabul.
The Afghan caretaker government has vowed to fight illicit drugs, and drug production and trafficking across the country. ■
